The Christmas Present of Christmas Past:

Pete’s young brother, Cedric, has modified his time-machine so that it now travels through space as well as time.  Cedric is fascinated by the stories of Ancient Rome, and he sets his time machine to take him back to the young Nero’s time.  Santa tries to stop Cedric, but ends up being taken along for the trip, along with Max, the Ho Hum Husky and Robert, Cedric’s history teacher.  Max is rather put out to find a replica of Minx, the Manx in ancient times.  She turns out to be Clawdia, the empress’s cat, and when Max saves her from a wolf, she gives him the formal title, ‘Friend of Felines’.  The group also meets, Flavia, a beautiful Roman lady, who according to legend, was the subject of a miracle in the Colosseum when the Lord took her up to heaven and spared her the suffering of death in the arena.  Cedric’s time machine has been damaged during the trip, so Clawdia invites the visitors back to the palace for the night.  When Messalina sees the group approaching the palace, she is very taken with the handsome history teacher Robert, rather to the annoyance of her pet gladiator, Silius.  On arrival at the palace, Cedric immediately teams up with Nero, but Flavia warns Robert that there is danger if they stay.  When Messalina sees that Robert is in love with Flavia, in a jealous rage, she condemns the two to death in the Colosseum.  Max and Santa try to intervene, but they are sent to the arena too.  However, in the arena, many surprises await.  Robert bravely faces Silius, the gladiator, Max takes on Lepidus and Panthea, and when things get really tough, Cedric comes to the rescue.  Not only do we finally understand the miracle of Saint Flavia, but the group is transported back to the present day in time to have the best Christmas ever.
